THE CORPSE OF A LOVER

This is my submission for the April 1st, 2024 prompt for # NapoWriMo2024. the prompt is to write a poem on – “without consulting the book- a poem that recounts the plot, or some portion of the plot, of a novel that you remember having liked but that you haven’t read in a long time”. The novel that I chose is “Wuthering Heights” by Emily Bronte.

Digging and digging,

in the wet mushy playground,

I seek my playmate,

my friend from my childhood.

I find her half dead,

waiting for me,

to dig her up.

We rejoice and overcome with desire,

I invite her ghost back home,

to come and haunt her ancestral abode.

Her rightful place,

in her home,

by my side.
